Activate Your Hollins Email
Your Hollins University email account is the primary way the university will communicate with you. Important information about your onboarding, orientation, housing, and other next steps will be sent to your Hollins email.
Information about your Hollins email account and login credentials will be sent to the personal email address you used during the application process. Activating your Hollins email is one of the first and most important steps to begin your transition to Hollins.

Fall Orientation Dates and Registration Form
Orientation marks the beginning of your Hollins experience and is designed to help you transition smoothly into campus life. During Orientation, you’ll meet fellow students, connect with faculty and staff, learn about campus resources, and begin building your Hollins community.
Fall 2026 Orientation will take place Saturday, August 29 through Tuesday, September 1. Following Orientation, students will participate in Hollins’ annual Welcome Week, a series of programs and events designed to help you get settled and engaged on campus. The first day of classes will be Wednesday, September 2.
Please complete the Orientation Registration Form to confirm your participation and help us prepare for your arrival. The deadline to submit the Orientation Registration Form is Friday, July 31.

Hollins Level Up Summer Bridge Scholars Program
Hollins University is excited to offer the Hollins Level Up Summer Bridge Scholars Program, a one-week pre-orientation experience designed to help students build community, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging before the academic year begins. During this program, participants will connect with peer mentors, engage in workshops focused on academic success and well-being, and explore the Hollins campus and the Roanoke community. Students will have the opportunity to apply to participate in this program, which will take place just before the start of the fall semester.

Class Registration & Academic Advising
Build Your First Semester at Hollins
Planning your first semester is an exciting step in your Hollins journey! In June, you will have the opportunity to meet virtually with a Hollins academic advisor to begin selecting your fall courses and exploring your academic interests.
Your academic advisor will reach out to you by email in May with instructions for scheduling your advising appointment. Be sure to check your Hollins email regularly and reserve your meeting time as soon as possible.
During your advising session, you’ll discuss your academic goals, learn about Hollins’ curriculum, and receive guidance on building a course schedule that supports your success in your first semester.

New Student Housing Application
Students planning to live on campus must complete the New Student Housing Application. This application helps our Housing & Residence Life team learn more about your living preferences so we can work to create a comfortable and supportive residential experience.
The housing application will open on May 1 and close on June 15. All new students who wish to reside on campus are required to complete the application by the deadline.

Hollins University is a four-year residential campus, and students are expected to live in university housing throughout their undergraduate experience. Students who believe they may qualify for a housing residency exemption should review the Residency Exemption Form for eligibility requirements and application instructions. Health and Immunization Records
To support your health and well-being while at Hollins, all students must submit required Health and Immunization Records before arriving on campus. These records help our Health and Counseling Services team ensure that students meet Virginia health requirements and have the information needed to support their care while at the university.
All residential students are required to complete and submit the Health and Immunization forms, including personal health history, immunization documentation, tuberculosis screening, and a recent physical exam completed within the past 12 months. Residential students may not register for classes until these records have been submitted and approved. Commuter students are encouraged to submit a Health and Immunization Record Form to enable them to access health and counseling services on campus.
Students can submit their completed forms by uploading them through the Health and Immunization Form on Maxient. This secure submission process helps ensure your records are received and reviewed by Health and Counseling Services.

For international students
The International Student Transition and Engagement Program (ISTEP) Pre-Orientation, which will run from August 27-28, 2026, will prepare incoming international students and US citizens with an extensive international background for living in the US and studying at Hollins. ISTEP pre-orientation is required for all incoming F-1 visa for international students and is optional for other incoming students who may qualify. Hollins Student ID Card
Every student at Hollins is required to have a student ID which not only gives you access to your residence hall but allows you access to laundry facilities for residential students, check out books and other items at the library, access your campus meal plan, swipe in at student activities and more.
If you have an existing photo, use this form to upload your photo.
Below are guidelines to ensure your submitted photo can be used for your Hollins ID Card:
- Existing photos must be in JPG format to be processed.
- The background for the photo should be white or very light in color. Do not use a dark color background.
- The photo needs to be a full facial capture: top of the head to the top of the chest. No full body photos please.
- The photo should be without any head covering unless one is worn for religious purposes or medical conditions.
- The photo should be taken without any type of facial covering. Items worn for religious purposes, which cover or partially cover the face, should be adjusted to allow a full-faced photo.
Once the photo has been received, it will be imported into the ID card system and applied to your ID card. The ID card will then be printed and activated. New residential student ID cards will be available for pick-up on your move-in day at Moody Hall. New commuter student ID cards will be available for pick-up at Campus Security in Botetourt Hall. Campus Safety and Parking
Hollins University prioritizes campus safety with 14 strategically placed emergency call boxes that connect to the dispatch center. Student residence halls have 24-hour locked exterior doors and a two-lock system, while security officers conduct regular inspections and repairs for enhanced security. Additionally, some facilities have 24/7 video surveillance, and security officers patrol buildings accessible to students at all times.
The campus security station is located in the lobby of Botetourt Hall. It is staffed 24 hours a day throughout the year.
Parking on Campus/Parking Permit Application:
Please complete the Hollins University Parking Permit Application.
All student-operated vehicles MUST be registered with Campus Security. First-year students are permitted to have a vehicle on campus. A yearly stick-on parking permit will be issued. Student yearly stick-on permits are NOT transferable from the registered vehicle to any other vehicle. For each vehicle brought to the campus, a new permit must be applied for. Additional student vehicle permits are available for a small administrative fee.
Undergraduate student, and resident Graduate or Horizon student, parking permits are $75 for an academic year. Graduate and Horizon commuter student parking permits are $50 for an academic year. Depending on the purchase date, parking fees may be lower. Additional or replacement student parking permits are $5. Failure to follow the university’s parking rules and regulations may result in parking fines and/or the towing of vehicles.
