Johnson has worked in theatre for 35 years in prop shops, scene shops, and design studios, where he drafted, designed, and constructed, most recently for Tantrum Theater and the School of Theater at Ohio University. He’s an accomplished scenic sculptor specializing in large carved forms and specialty construction projects. He has also worked in construction shops learning building techniques including decorative Victorian millwork, 3D printing and silicone mold making, bronze casting, and 3D modeling for virtual and augmented realities. Johnson earned his B.A. in studio art in sculpture at Humboldt State University and his M.F.A. in studio art in sculpture and digital media from University of California at Santa Barbara. His recent artistic works are investigating 3D printing, laser cutting, and experimenting with biodegradable and recycled materials.
