Available to students for their first year who submit outstanding applications and who are continually enrolled for at least part time credits each semester of the academic year (summer, fall, spring). If available, continuing students may qualify for merit-based scholarship funding for one academic year based on exceptional course work. Additional need-based funding may be available for special circumstances.

Open to students in the M.A. and M.F.A. programs. This opportunity carries a $2,000 tuition stipend.

One SCBWI member will be awarded $1,000 toward tuition for our Graduate Programs in Children’s Literature and Illustration. Deadline to submit application for potential 2025/26 funding is March 15, 2025. Results will be announced in time for summer 2025 registration. To enter, writers will submit the first page of a manuscript or academic work (based on SCBWI’s “first page critique” guidelines). Illustrators will submit three of their illustrations no later than March 15, 2025. More information and application form (PDF.)
