1. Where are you from, and what are you studying at Hollins?
I’m from La Plata, Maryland, and I’m a biology major with a minor in public health. I’ve always been interested in health and helping people, so this felt like the right path for me.
2. What drew you to Hollins, and what made you feel that this was the right community for you?
I was drawn to Hollins because of the small campus and the close community. I also loved how beautiful it is here and honestly; the horses didn’t hurt either. Being close to home was important to me, too. When I visited, it just felt right. I felt like I could be myself here, and that’s what really made me choose Hollins.
3. Tell us what your role as chair of HAB means to you and how HAB contributes to the campus experience.
Being chair of HAB means a lot to me. I’ve been involved since the spring of my first year, and I’ve really grown to love planning events, especially formals, which I helped lead last year. HAB plays a big role on campus because we bring people together and give students fun things to look forward to. I just really enjoy creating spaces where people can relax, have fun, and feel happy.
4. What has been the best part of your Hollins experience so far?
The best part has definitely been the people. I’ve made some really great friends, and being part of HAB has made my experience even better. Planning events and then seeing people show up and enjoy them is such a good feeling. It makes all the work worth it.
5. When you think about your time here, what kind of legacy do you hope to leave for future Hollins students?
I hope people remember me as someone who worked hard, was kind, and made others feel welcome. I also hope I’ve helped create a space where people feel comfortable being themselves and learning from others who are different from t hem. If I can be remembered for bringing a little positivity and light to campus, that would mean a lot to me.
