One of the reasons I love the liberal arts (and Hollins) is because there’s an emphasis on learning across disciplines to create meaning. Professionally, this means that I work with colleagues across campus in a lot of different contexts to further our educational mission. As a librarian, one of my main roles is to support the humanities and history department through research instruction and research appointments, & by curating our collection to support our curriculum. This manifests in expected ways: ordering books and answering research questions; and in less-expected ways: teaching a class on the iterative nature of research or researching pedagogy. In addition to my library responsibilities, I do my best to be a collaborative member of the campus community through committee work and campus activities.
If you are a student, I’d love to help you with your research. Schedule an appointment with me at: https://calendly.com/seipprl
