Housing Selection FAQs
How do I select housing on eRezlife?
To secure housing, students must first complete their housing application within eRezlife, our online software program. You may log in to eRezlife via this link here, using your Hollins credentials.
The housing portal will open on May 1st, and the priority deadline to select your preferences for fall housing is June 15th. If you submit your application after June 15th, that is fine, you just might not receive your first preference.
Once you complete your housing application, you will be able to select your room and roommate preferences.

How do I find a future roommate?
Once you complete your housing application, you may then search for roommates and create roommate groups. If you do not end up choosing a roommate, that’s okay! HRL will select a compatible roommate for you via your housing application answers.
Students may find roommates using the search function within eRezlife. You can only view those who have completed their housing application, so you may want to wait a few weeks before searching for a roommate.
- If you are looking for a potential roommate, you may search for someone with your shared interests or preferences using the roommate search tool.
- Once you find someone you’d like to live with, you can reach out to them via the “Send contact request” function.
- You may then reach out and chat with them via their email or their shared social media information.
- Once you decide you’d like to live with them, proceed to the steps below to add them to a roommate group.

I already know who I’d like to live with, how do I select them as my roommate?
If you already know who you’d like to live with, you may create a Roommate Group with them within ERezlife.
- Click “Roommate Groups” on the left, and then “Create New Group”. Only one person needs to create a Roommate Group.
- You may then add your future roommate via their Hollins email.
- You may also find them by searching for their name or Hollins email address within the roommate search function, and add them to your group that way.
- As a reminder, you can only add those who have also completed their housing application.
Am I able to live off campus?
Hollins University is a four-year residential campus, and students are expected to live in university housing throughout their undergraduate experience. Students who believe they may qualify for a housing residency exemption and meet specific criteria should review the Residency Exemption Process for eligibility requirements and application instructions. If you have questions, please contact Housing & Residence Life at hrl@hollins.edu.”
Room Condition Report
A Room Condition Report documents the condition of your room upon your check-in. You may access this via your Housing ERezlife Portal and clicking the button on your home page that says “Complete Room Condition Report”. You would log into this portal using your standard Hollins username and password.
Upon moving into a new space, please take time to review and verify the condition of your room and add any notes of any issues accordingly. As this is our first year using the electronic form, most items will be defaulted to the “new” condition and would need to be updated. Please add comments accordingly. This form will be used to assess the condition of your room upon checkout, so please be thorough in notating any damages.
Students are responsible for the condition of their assigned room and will reimburse Hollins University for any damages beyond normal wear and tear to the room not otherwise listed in the Room Condition Report. Damage includes but is not limited to loss, destruction, or alteration of fixtures, furnishings, or other furnished property. All university-provided furniture and accessories must remain in the room. Furnishings may not be stored in other locations not may Facilities remove them.
You may also upload photos to your room condition report for each item listed.
Once you complete, please click “Submit to Housing” at the bottom.
You may complete this form on your phone or via your computer. As this is a longer form, you are encouraged to save your progress throughout the course of completing.”
