Melanie hails from Honolulu, Hawaii, and she moved to Virginia in the fall of 2025. She graduated with a B.F.A. in creative writing from Emerson College, where she worked as a resident assistant, hosting fun and elaborate events for her residents. In her free time, she enjoys writing at cafes, cooking, and exploring the beauty of the Roanoke Valley. She’s thrilled to represent AAPI students at Hollins and feels strongly about helping underserved communities pursue an education. Whether through community events or one-on-one conversations, Melanie hopes to inspire Hollins students to pursue their passions, challenge the status quo, and forge their own unique paths toward changing the world.
