Hollins is a campus that embraces diversity, values inclusivity, and encourages conversations and actions to bring our community closer together while fostering a deeper cultural understanding of experiences outside of our own. Our goal is for every student to feel welcomed, valued, and safe to express their truest selves while on campus and beyond.

We’re taking action

For us, diversity, equity, and inclusion are more than words. They’re a commitment to keep moving forward, learning, and making progress. Here are some of the steps we’ve taken to support our community:

  • Offering multiple clubs and organizations that support diversity and inclusivity, including a number of affinity groups
  • Holding listening sessions with students
  • Providing training sessions for faculty to lead classroom discussions where every student feels respected and heard
  • Offering workshops for staff and student leaders
  • Engaging Students in a series of insight conversations to share their perspectives and build capacity for critical dialogue
  • Adding a New Student Orientation program for incoming first-year students that is devoted to cultural competency and inclusivity
  • Starting The Hollins University Working Group on Slavery and Its Contemporary Legacies
