Hollins University Academics

Liberal Arts: The education of importance and practicality.

A Hollins liberal arts education provides the skills that employers and graduate schools value the most. These are the skills that Hollins graduates say prepare them not only for their first job after college but also for a lifetime of career changes:

  • Critical thinking
  • Problem solving
  • Communication (writing and speaking)
  • Research and investigation
  • Management
  • Assessment

At Hollins, you develop these skills in a variety of ways:

  • Classroom discussion
  • Hands-on learning
  • Our new interdisciplinary ESP program
  • Study abroad
  • Internships
  • Leadership experiences
  • Community service

Our academic year is structured so January is spent in an innovative course, internship, independent study, or travel and study abroad. Click here to learn more about our January Short Term.
