Following the accidental death of Shalynda Monique Toney ’10 while she was studying in Rome in the fall of 2009, an outpouring of love and gifts from friends resulted in the creation of two scholarships in her memory, both designated for Roanoke-area students. A scholarship funded by Member One Federal Credit Union, now in its second year, has been awarded to Rebecca Smith ’14 and Brandie Gray ’15, both from Roanoke.
