Greetings from President Lawrence, Fall 2018

Photo of President Pareena LawrenceWelcome to our first family newsletter of the 2018-19 academic year! I have so enjoyed the beginning of Fall semester and the opportunity to reacquaint myself with our returning students and begin building relationships with our new students. I am honored that, with your love and support, they have chosen to live and learn at Hollins. We take that responsibility very seriously.

Higher education is life-changing for students, and I want to assure you that the faculty and staff at Hollins are here for them as educators and mentors. Their highest priority is your student’s growth and success, so please encourage your student to reach out to their professors and administrators alike for advice and guidance.

To further bolster this commitment, we began a creative and collaborative process in early 2018 to develop a new strategic plan that will provide our students with the best learning experiences. Our vision is to create a vibrant and inclusive global community that challenges our students to learn across boundaries with innovative curricular and co-curricular opportunities, preparing them to lead lives of consequence.

I can’t wait to see the enduring impact our students are going to make in their professions, communities, and the world.

Family Weekend at Hollins is October 19 – 21, and I invite you to be a part of an exciting three days on our campus. Sit in on a class, immerse yourself in the exhibitions at the Wilson Museum, enjoy Hollins Theatre’s fall production, check out Roanoke’s lively downtown scene, and much more. I hope you can join us.

Thank you again for helping your student choose Hollins as their alma mater.
