Hollins’ downriver racing team took second place overall in the American Canoe Association (ACA) Collegiate Downriver National Championships, held October 15.
Hollins is joining more than 80 colleges and universities from across the country to compete in the Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge, Sept. 4 – Oct. 15. The Challenge celebrates college students’ ideas and ingenuity to combat the inactivity trend among young people.
Jon Guy Owens, director of the Hollins Outdoor Program, has been elected to the Board of Directors for Coastal Canoeists, Virginia’s largest canoeing and kayaking club.
Sponsored by Wyndham Robertson Library and the Hollins Outdoor Program, this initiative is using the Blue Ridge Mountains and a few good books to help the campus community explore the connections between movement, nature, and literature.
The Collegiate Race Series is the premier event for Hollins and other colleges and universities from across the country to compete in canoe and kayak racing.
