Fiske Calls Hollins “One of the Country’s Leading Women’s Colleges” Fiske Guide to Colleges lists Hollins University as a Leading Women’s College.

Hollins University is one of 323 four-year schools featured in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2019, which USA Today calls, “The best college guide you can buy.”

Created 35 years ago by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, the guide offers “an insider’s look at what it’s really like to be a student at the ‘best and most interesting schools’ in the United States as well as Canada, Great Britain, and Ireland.”

In its profile, Fiske says Hollins is “one of the country’s leading women’s colleges” where “academics are a top priority. Students leave with confidence, critical-thinking skills, and intellectual depth, thanks to a solid grounding in the liberal arts.”

Fiske also cites Hollins for its quality in three particular areas of study, placing the school among the 25 “Small Colleges and Universities Strong in Art or Design,” the 18 “Small Colleges Strong in Film/Television,” and the 17 “Small Colleges and Universities Strong in Dance.”
