Martha Park, who earned an M.F.A. from Hollins a year ago, describes the work of these very different writers in her article,\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollins.edu\/magazine\/?p=6780\">Finding the Extraordinary in the Ordinary<\/a>.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Lee Smith \u201967 has written a memoir, <em>Dimestore<\/em>, and you\u2019ll be treated to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollins.edu\/magazine\/?p=6771 \">excerpt<\/a> in which she describes the valuable\u2014and unexpected\u2014lesson she learned as a senior when Eudora Welty spoke at Hollins.<\/li>\n<li>In \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollins.edu\/magazine\/?p=6722\">The Process of Becoming Better<\/a>,\u201d Beth JoJack \u201998 writes about the recent success of playwright Meredith Dayna Levy \u201912, who, when she\u2019s not working in Hollins\u2019 institutional advancement office, is completing the requirements for an M.F.A. in playwriting from her alma mater.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Alumnae continue to play a role in the life of Hollins, and in this issue we give two examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollins.edu\/magazine\/?p=6788\">More Than a Textbook Example<\/a>,\u201d Jeff Hodges M.A.L.S. \u201911 writes about how special appearances last fall by alumnae in a communication studies class enriched what students were learning from their textbooks and professors.<\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\" https:\/\/www.hollins.edu\/magazine\/?p=6752\">Alumnae Connections<\/a><u>,<\/u> you\u2019ll find out more about the alumnae-in-residence program, which brought five graduates to campus in March to meet with students interested in careers in area of public service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally, you\u2019re sure to find some familiar\u2014and favorite\u2014names on the list of those who have received the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollins.edu\/magazine\/?p=6761\">Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award<\/a> since it was first given at Hollins, in 1952.
