MAL is the flagship Youth Leadership Development Program of the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations.<br \/>\nHollins was named the conference\u2019s Overall Distinguished Delegation, and the university\u2019s participants captured several group and individual awards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Distinguished Delegation in the Council on Palestinian Affairs<\/em>: Ava Kegler \u201925 and Sammy Stuhlmiller \u201925<\/li>\n<li><em>Outstanding Delegation in the Summit of the Arab Heads of State<\/em>: Kayla Richardson \u201924 and Phil Anh<\/li>\n<li><em>Outstanding Chair<\/em>: Harper Dillon \u201925<\/li>\n<li><em>Distinguished Chair<\/em>: Sofia Olivares \u201925 and Claire Ross \u201923<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hollins students also served in key leadership roles at the conference, including Bianca Vallebrignoni \u201923, secretary general; Chanmolis Mout \u201923, assistant secretary general; and Jenna Johnston \u201925, chief justice of the Arab Court of Justice simulation.<\/p>\n<p>John P. Wheeler Professor of Political Science Edward Lynch and Assistant Professor of Political Science and Gender and Women\u2019s Studies Courtney Chenette \u201909 jointly organized the 2022 conference, which was held at Hollins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an important element of the university\u2019s emphasis on experiential learning,\u201d Lynch said.<\/p>\n<p>Eight delegations composed of student representatives from George Mason University, Georgia Southern University, Georgia State University, Hollins, Roanoke College, Virginia Military Institute, and Roanoke\u2019s Community High School participated in the event, now in its eighth year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hollins students earned multiple honors at the annual Appalachia Regional Model Arab League (MAL) conference in November.
