Committed to supporting students with gifts and interest in the fine and performing arts, Hollins is pleased to offer Creative Talent and Music Awards (CTMA) to students who have talent in the areas of creative writing, dance, studio art, theatre, or music.

Steps to Apply for Creative Talent and Music Awards

  1. Complete the scholarship application
  2. Submit your portfolio materials
    • Each CTMA category has specific portfolio guidelines. Please review the guidelines below.
    • Your portfolio materials will be submitted using the Material Collection Form that will be sent via email after receiving your scholarship application.

CTMA applications will be accepted in the following areas:

Creative Writing

  • Option 1: Poetry – submit three original poems
  • Option 2: Prose – one piece of nonfiction or fiction, up to five-pages in length, double-spaced
  • Option 3: Combination – one poem and one short prose piece. Total submission cannot exceed four pages, double-spaced.

Dance

Video submission of a solo audition routine via YouTube link*

  • Routine should not be longer than three minutes in length
  • Routine can be choreographed to showcase any dance genre

Studio Art

Digital portfolio of 10 pieces

  • Images will be submitted as a collection by uploading images into a provided template

Theatre

Video submissions to be provided via YouTube link*

  • Option 1: Performance – two contrasting monologues of up to one minute in length each. Musical theatre performance can also be submitted.
  • Option 2: Theatre Design – Submission of up to 10 images or a YouTube video recording of up to two minutes in length
  • Option 3: Playwriting – Option of a written piece of up to 10 pages or a digital portfolio for designers and the written pages for playwrights.

Music

Video submissions to be provided via YouTube link*

  • Up to two performances; each piece should not be longer than three minutes.
  • Vocal and instrumental submissions are welcome as well as original compositions.
