Coach Kat Lawson took over the reins of the Hollins volleyball program in January 2015. Lawson enjoyed a stellar playing career at ODAC rival Bridgewater College. During her four years in an Eagle uniform, she was a three-year starter, team captain, and a two-time, All-ODAC selection. Lawson set four individual records, two of which still stand, as well as graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in French with a minor in education.
After graduation, Lawson began her career in education by teaching French at Hidden Valley High School in Roanoke. During her time in the classroom, she served as an assistant volleyball coach for a team that made back-to-back final four appearances in the Virginia State Tournament. In addition to coaching at the high school level, Lawson provided private volleyball lessons and worked with the track and field program.
After coming to Hollins, Lawson has served as an admission counselor, assistant director of admission, application processor, events coordinator, and admission data coordinator. She resides in the Roanoke Valley with her husband, Ty, and their son, Benjamin.
