Hollins is pleased to announce that, beginning August 1, Professor of Spanish Alison Ridley and Professor of Chemistry Dan Derringer will jointly provide leadership on an interim basis of the university’ academic affairs division. They will work closely with all members of the faculty, especially those who are leading important projects and initiatives.
Ridley will serve as the interim vice president for academic programs, while Derringer has stepped into the position of interim vice president for academic affairs. In addition to their strong commitment to their students and respective departments, Ridley and Derringer have both held a number of important leadership roles at Hollins, from chairing the faculty to positions on the faculty executive, tenure and promotion, and academic affairs committees; led faculty searches; and guided or participated in strategic planning and program design and implementation.
Ridley and Derringer will help ensure that Hollins moves forward. They will continue the outstanding work of Vice President for Academic Affairs Trish Hammer, who will be leaving Hollins on July 31 to become assistant dean of administration and analytics of the College of Science at Virginia Tech.
