Florence Fowler Peacock

A renowned soprano, Peacock has performed across the country and in such countries as Canada, England, Indonesia, and Russia. She has served as president of the Chapel Hill Music Teachers Association and on the boards of the North Carolina Symphony, Opera Company of North Carolina, and Early Music America. She served on the Presser Hall Leadership Committee, and sang brilliantly at the rededication of the music building at Founder’s Day 2007. The Peacock Terrace on campus, providing handicapped access to the Talmadge Recital Hall, is named in her honor.
