Students often spend the January Short Term in alternative educational and experiential settings.


Upcoming Short Term plans:

Travel to Turkey: visit the sites of early Christianity, developing Islam, and the arts and geography of ancient Anatolia (Short Term 2008). For information, contact Jan Fuller.


Previous January Short Term experiences:

Environmental Ethics Costa Rica trip: two weeks traveling through Costa Rica studying issues related to culture, diversity, and enviromental sustainability (Short Term 2006).

Hurricane Katrina Relief: two weeks doing relief, recovery, and rebuilding in a Mississippi Gulf community (Short Term 2006).

Who Am I?: a self discovery seminar focused on self-exploration, essential uniqueness, and potential (Short Term 2007).

Turkey: Religions and Cultures: a broad tour of Turkey through research and cultural experiences in the classroom at Hollins (Short Term 2007).

Eating Identities: an examination of food, identity, and cultures in contemporary U.S. contexts (Short Term 2005).
