I was looking for a small, private school with a competitive riding team and strong business and communication departments. Hollins fit these criteria perfectly. The Batten Leadership Institute also got my attention, as did the remarkable alumnae support and all the internship opportunities. Once I visited this beautiful campus and met all the amazing professors, students, admissions staff members, riding coaches and horses, and everyone who makes up the Hollins community, I knew this was the perfect university for me. I had an amazing Short Term experience. I went home to Colorado where I worked at Base 2 studios, a production, imaging, and editing company focusing on commercials and company/product image. From the first day, I was actively involved with almost every aspect of the company, from helping with castings to shooting commercials on site to sitting in the editing studio. I was offered a job at Base 2 for the summer. I ride for the varsity riding team. I had the opportunity to compete in both intercollegiate and open horse shows. Hollins is so lucky to have such high quality horses, as well as knowledgeable and supportive coaches. The riding program here is truly amazing! Mallory volunteers for the admissions office and has spoken on panels during open houses. She has the following advice for students interested in Hollins: “Come visit campus!!! It makes such a difference and really helps you to get a feel of what Hollins is like. Get contact info for current students and alums from the admissions office. We would love to talk to you, tell you all about our experiences at Hollins, and we would love to hear about you!”
