Important dates 2011-2012

Fall semester 2011	Thursday, August 25 New students check-in Please note: Requests for early move-in cannot be accommodated. Special arrangements are made for athletes and International students.
	Sunday, August 28 - Monday, August 29 Returning students check-in
	Tuesday, August 30 Opening convocation, 4:30 p.m.
	Wednesday, August 31 Fall semester classes begin
	Thursday, October 13 - Friday, October 14 Fall Break (residence halls remain open)
	Friday, October 28 - Sunday, October 30 Family Weekend
	Wednesday, November 16 Deadline to request Thanksgiving Break Housing (12 p.m.)
	Saturday, November 19 - Sunday, November 27 Thanksgiving Break Please note: Residence halls close at 12 noon on Saturday, November 19 and re-open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, November 27. Students are expected to make their travel plans accordingly.
	Thursday, December 8 Last day of fall classes
	Friday, December 9 Reading day
	Saturday, December 10 - Thursday, December 15 Fall semester exams
	Friday, December 16 Winter Break Please note: Residence halls close at 12 noon on Friday, December 16, and re-open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, January 1 for Short Term. There is no break housing available for students during Winter Break, and students are expected to make their travel plans accordingly.

Short Term 2012	Sunday, January 1 Residence halls open for Short Term
	Tuesday, January 3 Short Term begins
	Friday, January 27 Short Term ends (residence halls remain open)
	Saturday, January 28 Deadline for residential students going on leave or studying abroad for Spring 2012 to check-out of housing (12 p.m.)

Spring Semester 2012	Wednesday, February 3 Spring semester classes begin
	Thursday, February 23 Founder's Day Convocation, 4:30 p.m.
	Wednesday, March 14 Deadline to request Spring Break Housing (12 p.m.)
	Saturday, March 17 - Sunday, March 25 Spring Break Please note: Residence halls close at 12 noon on Saturday, March 17 and re-open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 25. Students are expected to make their travel plans accordingly.
	Friday, April 2 Enrollment deposits due for 2012-13 academic year. Deposits must be received by the end of business on April 2 in order for students to select or be signed-up for housing in the first round of housing lottery.
	Monday, April 9 - Wednesday, April 11 First round of housing lottery
	Monday, April 16 Second round of housing lottery
	Tuesday, May 1 Honors Convocation, 4:30 p.m.
	Tuesday, May 8 Last day of spring classes
	Wednesday, May 9 Reading day
	Thursday, May 10 - Monday, May 14 Spring semester exams
	Tuesday, May 15 Residence halls close Please note: Residence halls close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15 for all non-graduating students. Students are expected to make their travel plans accordingly.
	Sunday, May 20 Commencement, 10:00 a.m.
	Monday, May 21 Residence halls and apartments close at 3 p.m. for summer Dates are subject to change at the discretion of the university. Students will be notified of closing and opening dates and times by the housing and residence life staff.
