Important dates 2012-2013

Fall semester 2012	Thursday, August 30 New students check-in Please note: Requests for early move-in cannot be accommodated. Special arrangements are made for athletes and International students.
	Sunday, September 2 - Monday, September 3 Returning students check-in
	Tuesday, September 4 Opening convocation, 4:30 p.m.
	Wednesday, September 5 Fall semester classes begin
	Thursday, October 11 - Friday, October 12 Fall Break (residence halls remain open)
	Friday, October 19 - Sunday, October 21 Family Weekend
	Wednesday, November 14 Deadline to request Thanksgiving Break Housing (12 p.m.)
	Saturday, November 17 - Sunday, November 25 Thanksgiving Break Please note: Residence halls close at 12 noon on Saturday, November 17 and re-open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, November 25. Students are expected to make their travel plans accordingly.
	Thursday, December 13 Last day of fall classes
	Friday, December 14 Reading day
	Saturday, December 15 - Wednesday, December 19 Fall semester exams
	Thursday, December 20 Winter Break Please note: Residence halls close at 12 noon on Thursday, December 20, and re-open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, January 6 for Short Term. There is no break housing available for students during Winter Break, and students are expected to make their travel plans accordingly.

Short Term 2013	Sunday, January 6 Residence halls open for Short Term
	Monday, January 7 Short Term begins
	Friday, February 1 Short Term ends (residence halls remain open)
	Saturday, February 2 Deadline for residential students going on leave or studying abroad for Spring 2013 to check-out of housing (12 p.m.)

Spring Semester 2013	Wednesday, February 6 Spring semester classes begin
	Thursday, February 28 Founder's Day Convocation, 4:30 p.m.
	Wednesday, March 13 Deadline to request Spring Break Housing (12 p.m.)
	Saturday, March 16 - Sunday, March 24 Spring Break Please note: Residence halls close at 12 noon on Saturday, March 16 and re-open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 24. Students are expected to make their travel plans accordingly.
	Monday, April 1 Enrollment deposits due for 2013-14 academic year. Deposits must be received by the end of business on April 1 in order for students to select or be signed-up for housing in the first round of housing lottery.
	Monday, April 8 - Wednesday, April 10 First round of housing lottery
	Monday, April 15 Second round of housing lottery
	Tuesday, April 30 Honors Convocation, 4:30 p.m.
	Tuesday, May 7 Last day of spring classes
	Wednesday, May 8 Reading day
	Thursday, May 9 - Monday, May 13 Spring semester exams
	Tuesday, May 14 Residence halls close Please note: Residence halls close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 for all non-graduating students. Students are expected to make their travel plans accordingly.
	Sunday, May 19 Commencement, 10:00 a.m.
	Monday, May 20 Residence halls and apartments close at 3 p.m. for summer Dates are subject to change at the discretion of the university. Students will be notified of closing and opening dates and times by the housing and residence life staff.
