Hollinsummer, open to middle school and high school girls, is full of fun and learning. You'll take two noncredit classes, live on campus with girls from all over the country, and enjoy a full program of extracurricular activities. Choose from seven athletic clinics and rock climbing.
Dates:
July 11 - 16, 2010 (for rising 7th - 8th graders)
July 11 - 23, 2010 (for rising 9th - 12th graders)

Highlights for both programs:

  • The chance to make new friends with other girls from across the country
  • Engaging classes taught by Hollins faculty
  • Fun and recreation in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia
  • Choose from seven athletic clinics and rock climbing. The clinics are run by Hollins varsity coaches. On the application, you'll choose from the following list: basketball, golf, lacrosse, rock climbing, soccer, swimming, tennis, or volleyball.

For the high school group:

  • A taste of college life
  • Guidance about the college search process
  • $1,000 Hollins certificate to all who successfully complete the program to use toward your Hollins University tuition should you apply and be accepted

Where will you live?

You will stay in Tinker Hall, a spacious, air-conditioned residence hall located near classrooms, tennis courts, and the indoor swimming pool. Hall coordinators are current Hollins students.

What will you do when you're not in class?

You will take part in a full program of recreational activities, including swimming, games, and crafts. On the weekend we'll take trips off campus to such landmarks as Roanoke's historic downtown market, and a nearby private lake and picnic area where we'll have an afternoon cookout and enjoy a variety of activities, including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, tennis, and croquet.
