| Academic Information: Transfer Students |
Welcome to Hollins University! As a transfer student, you have already experienced life at another institution of higher learning. While some aspects of university life are similar from one school to the next, academic requirements are often quite different. This page and its links will help you to find out how the credits you have already taken fit into your requirements at Hollins and how to prepare for your first term.
To the right, you will find a link entitled Academic Overview that will introduce you to the main educational requirements at Hollins, including the number of credits needed to graduate, the Education through Skills and Perspectives (ESP) general education program, Short Term, and how Hollins applies transfer credits from other institutions.
You will be assigned an academic advisor based on the areas of interest you express on your Advising Questionnaire. Please fill out this questionnaire as soon as possible. Your first meeting with your advisor will take place on Friday, August 29, during orientation.
You will also be assigned a Student Success Leader (SSL), a current student at Hollins, who will contact you over the summer to answer any questions you might have and will assist you in putting together your schedule when you arrive on campus.
Over the summer, you will be asked to do a number of tasks including taking a series of placement tests online, filling out an advising questionnaire, and preparing a tentative schedule for the fall term. Please click on the Summer Academic Checklist link to the right for more instructions on how to prepare for the fall term.
The Hollins faculty is looking forward to meeting you in August!
