Student Success Leaders

Each of these leaders will be connected to one of the First-year Seminars. Once you have been assigned your seminar over the summer, your SSL will be in touch with you to discuss how to build your schedule for the fall and to answer any questions you have about academics at Hollins.

Bakst Hi! My name is Lauren Bakst ('11), and I am a double major in Dance and Gender Studies. I am an active dance artist in the community, always looking for ways to connect, share, and expand the ways we make and think about art. I am the Publicity Chair of the Hollins Repertory Dance Company (HRDC), a Near East Fine Arts (NEFA) resident, and the curator of the Midnight Showings. This will be my second year as an SSL, and I'm so excited to meet and work with all of the incoming students!
Sara Boddorf Hello, my name is Sara Boddorf, class of 2012, from Pearl River, New York! I am an Art History major also pursuing a certificate in Arts Management, and I am really excited to be a part of Professor Nolan’s Freshman Seminar this Fall. I am extremely active in a variety of areas on campus, but I am especially passionate about two clubs: FMLA, the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance, and WASH, Woman Art Students of Hollins. What’s better then feminism and art? And at the end of a long day, you can find me knitting in my room and rocking out to Andrea Gibson.
Brown Hi everyone! My name is Tiffany Anne Brown, and I am from Radford, Virginia. I am a Communication Studies major and Political Science minor in the class of 2010. I am involved at Hollins with the Batten Leadership Institute, in SGA as Senior Class President, with Alumnae Relations as the Student Reunion Chair. On a personal note, my day is not complete without caffeine, the New York Times, Perezhilton.com, and my Blackberry.
Daniella Eguiguren-Menendez Hey there! I’m Daniella Eguiguren-Menendez (Class of '11), and I’m a double major in Communication Studies and Hispanic Studies (an Interdisciplinary Major). I’m very excited to be working with Professor Weber’s "Steppin' Up and Speakin' Out: The Rhetoric of Women Leaders" class! If you take it, I know you’ll love it! On campus, I am largely involved with HUTV (I have a passion for broadcasting) & Spanish Club. As for back home, I have lived in Fairfax, VA, for close to ten years now, and I’m natively from Peru. I love the zoo, nice PJ pants, and a cold Diet Coke. Look forward to meeting you all in the fall!
Olivia Farrow

Hey, I'm Olivia Farrow ('10), and I'm a Political Science major with a minor in French. I'm from Falls Church, Virginia, and I love running and biking on the trails all around the DC and Northern Virginia area. I also play lacrosse for the school. I love to talk about three things: politics, music, and movies, and I can talk your ear off about any of them if you aren't careful.

Meredith Hubbard Hi. My name is Meredith Hubbard, and I am a proud member of the class of 2010, majoring in English with a minor in Philosophy. I am from Tazewell, Virginia, which is a little town in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. Besides staying busy with school, I spend my time reading cheesy novels, eating Panera Bread, making fun of my roommate, and sitting in libraries. An interesting fact about myself is that my first CD ever was Abbey Road by the Beatles. It was a favorite then, and it still is, more than a decade later.
Angel Jackson

Hello, my name is Angel Jackson, a member of the class of 2011. I was raised in a small town in Arkansas and came to Hollins for my passion for film and a need to discover and make new friends! I later was so involved, and loved my classes so much, that I decided to double major in Communication. My interests are particularly 16mm film, editing, and screenwriting. I also enjoy film theory as well and going to the cinema as much as I can. I have been a proud member of Culture & Community Engagement Programs run by Jeri Suarez in which I was a proud ETP mentee/mentor. I also like to work out, eat sushi, and discuss new ideas. This will be my first year as a SSL, and I am looking forward to thinking of creative ways to implement organic filmmaking.

Kellie Kunerth Hi, I’m Kellie Kunerth. I am a double major of English and Studio Art and pursuing a Batten Leadership certificate. I am originally from California but most recently Idaho. I am a member of the class of 2011 and am very excited to be helping out with the Photography Speaks seminar. I love photography, horses, baseball, and Hollins. I also love the rain and would wear rain boots every day if I could, and I have a slight addiction to coffee.
Jackson

My name is Lianne Jackson, and I'm from North Carolina. I am a creative writing major and am also involved in theatre, but I love to take a variety of classes. I also love music (I play piano and steel pan), dancing, improv, movies (Funny Girl is one of my favorites) and being at Hollins!

Mueller

My name is Kelcy Leigh Mueller, and I am a part of the Hollins class of 2010. I am an economics major with a math minor and am looking forward to my senior year at Hollins and all the fun and work that come with it. I grew up in New Braunfels, a small town located in the beautiful Texas hill country. At Hollins, I am a Quantitative Reasoning tutor, a part of the Batten Leadership Institute, Admissions Ambassador, and SGA Treasurer. My favorite things about Hollins are definitely the beautiful campus, the great traditions, and the incredible faculty!

Anne Patrick Hi, my name is Anne Patrick ('12). I am originally from Annandale, Virginia. I plan on majoring in psychology with a social work minor. On campus, I am involved with Cojourners Bible Study, the Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and the ever-growing community of knitters. One of my favorite things about Hollins is the close community. I am looking forward to welcoming new people into it this fall!
Destini Price My name is Destini Price, and I am an English and Classical Studies double major. As a native Virginian, I have lived in Bridgewater, Linville, Criders, and most recently, Lynchburg [Virginia]. I am the oldest of five children and the co-mother of two beautiful kittens, Jasmine and Goldie. I love mountain air, small towns, soul-searching, poetry, Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, and fresh peaches. My time at Hollins has been nothing less than an adventure, and I truly feel a part of the beautiful mosaic of women that form the Hollins community.
Abigail Quinn Hi, my name is Abigail Quinn. I am double majoring in Political Science and Spanish. I am on the three-year graduation track, so I will graduate in 2011. I hope to go to law school after graduating as I am interested in domestic law. I grew up mostly in New Jersey but have also lived in Ohio and Northern Virginia. I am an active horseback rider and love the Hollins horses and riders. I was also Treasurer of 2012 last year and will continue my duties next year. I can’t wait for this coming year!
Meaghan Quinn My name is Meaghan Quinn, Class of 2011, and I am majoring in English with a concentration in creative writing. I am from Boston, Massachusetts, and decided to pursue my academic career at Hollins University for its reputable and rigorous creative writing program. For the past two years, I have been involved in Cargoes, our literary and artwork chapbook, a student ambassador for the admissions department and a member of S.E.A. (Students for Environmental Action). In my spare time, I flip through the literary journals on the first floor of the library, tinker with poems, bird-watch, feed peanuts to the neurotic squirrels w/ Martha, and vacation in Chatham, Cape Cod.
Stanojevic

I am Marina Stanojevic, and I am an international student from Bosnia (Class of 2010), majoring in mathematics and international business. I came to Hollins University three years ago, and I have to say that I enjoyed every minute that I spent here so far. My family is still back in Bosnia, and I am usually homesick. I love animals and the environment, and I'm always up for fun, but of course, serious work comes first. I am an "open person," and I love helping other students on campus. I do not live on campus, but I spend at least 12 - 14 hours here every day, so I am easy to be caught in Dana Science Building.

Allyson Stephens

My name is Allyson Stephens, and I am a chemistry and mathematics double major. I am originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but currently live in Williamsburg, Virginia. I am extremely excited, and a little bit nervous, to be entering into my senior year. I have enjoyed my time at Hollins tremendously and have met some of the most fabulous people! In addition to science and math, I have a deep love for theatre, strawberry chapstick, thunderstorms, cool breezes, London, the color green, hills, roller coasters, and the Gulf of Mexico!

Kaila Thorn Bonjour! I’m Kaila Thorn, an International Studies and Environmental Studies double major also pursuing the Batten Leadership Certificate and the Outdoor Leadership Certificate. I have a love of learning lots of things, and I have varied interest from dance to music to canoeing and rock climbing. I’m in the class of 2011, and I call Cocoa, Florida, home. I’m a huge fan of Florida in the summer and blueberry cobbler! I’m super excited about helping Dr. Beach and meeting the incoming first-year students!
