A recent study by faculty and student researchers at Hollins University into bacterial contamination from soda fountain machines has received widespread coverage from broadcast and Web-based media throughout the U.S. and internationally.
- CBS’ "The Early Show" aired a story about the research results on Friday, January 8 and CBS News subsequently posted an article on its Web site.
- CNN.com;
ABCNews.com; Business Week, TIME.com and the New York Daily News have also given the research significant coverage.
- Television stations in New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Houston, Memphis, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Orlando, Las Vegas, Baltimore, Denver, Cleveland, Tampa, Louisville, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Antonio, Knoxville, and Topeka have either broadcast stories of their own or posted articles on their respective Web sites.
- Faculty researchers were interviewed by WAMU, the National Public Radio affiliate in Washington, D.C., the syndicated morning TV show The Daily Buzz; and the Doctor Radio channel and Joe Madison’s weekday morning show, both broadcast on Sirius/XM satellite radio.
- International coverage has come from news-oriented Web sites based in Canada (the Canadian Broadcasting Company), India, and the United Arab Emirates.
- A number of popular blogs such as The Huffington Post and The Consumerist have filed reports as have the health news Web sites Everyday Health, MSN Health & Fitness, and Yahoo! Health.
