The Library Hike, April 10 – 24th, with Special Event

Join us for our third library hike from April 10 – 24th!  Stop by the library to check out a “hiking pack”, then head off on the trail from Hollins to Carvins Cove where you will discover books from the humanities, arts, social sciences, and natural sciences along the way. Each hiking pack contains a blanket, sunscreen, and bug spray to help you with the hike, and a journal and pens to use when inspiration strikes. Like to take pictures? Please use #LibraryHike when you share them online so that others can see your journey!

This is a self-guided hike that you can go on at any time. Please practice good hiking etiquette and let someone else know you are on the trail. The entrance to the hike is on the north side of the campus in the northeast corner of the parking lot above the lower barn (next to the paint shed).  Follow the trail that runs alongside the lower horse field.

Hiking and Writing
April 19th at 4:30 pm

We will also have a special event in conjunction with the hike – Hiking and Writing with Jon Guy Owens and Thorpe Moeckel on Wednesday, April 19th at 4:30 pm. We meet at the back quad on the bricks near the gym and leave at 4:30 sharp. We estimate the hike to take around two hours. Please wear close-toed shoes, and bring water, paper or a notebook for the writing exercises, and a writing utensil. A small backpack will be helpful to carry your supplies.
