Tracing your family tree: Essential tools for genealogists:  Interested in learning more about your ancestors? Laura Wickstead, the Virginia Room Librarian for the Roanoke Public Libraries, will discuss how genealogical researchers can build detailed family trees through resources the library makes available, from online databases to printed volumes. She will also talk about the recently released 1940 Census, and the types of information genealogists can hope to find in this data.

College & University Archives for genealogists: what to expect when you go: Beth Harris, our Special Collections Librarian, has worked with many genealogists inquiring about relatives with connections to Hollins. She will provide advice and suggestions for anybody who might one day be interested in contacting a university archive for information, whether your ancestor might have worked for the school or attended the college as a student.
