Materials can be returned to the library or the outside book return.
May I renew materials?
Items may be renewed online; see the Loan Period chart above for number of renewals allowed for books, films, etc. Note: items borrowed from Roanoke College can only be renewed once and may not be recalled.
Interlibrary loan renewal requests must be made through the Interlibrary Loan Department on the second floor: stop by, call 362-6239 or email Jonathan Overturf at joverturf@hollins.edu.
What are the fines for overdue materials?
| Books | $.25 per day per item; $10 maximum per item |
| Recalled Items | $1 per day per item; $20 maximum per item |
| In-library and Overnight Reserve | $.50 per hour per item; $20 maximum per item |
| Two Day Reserves | $1 per day per item; $20 maximum per item |
| Videos, Sound Recordings, Slides | HU materials: $1 per day per item for first 3 overdue days, and $3 per day for days 4 and onward; $9 maximum per item. RC materials: $3 per day; $9 maximum per item. |
What are the charges for lost or damaged materials?
| In-print materials | Default rate of $50.00 plus a $15.00 non-refundable late charge/processing and billing fee ;or the replacement cost as listed in BIP, Ulrich's, Whitaker's, etc. |
| Out of print books | Price listed by out-of-print book dealer or average cost of Hollins Library titles purchased in the subject area. |
| Interlibrary Loan | Replacement charges are set by the lending institution. |
| Other materials | Original cost or actual cost of comparable item plus a processing charge. |
Borrowing privileges, including Interlibrary Loan will be temporarily suspended when library charges reach $50.00. To restore privileges, library charges may be cleared at the circulation desk, by returning the items and paying any fines. However, accounts referred to the Business Office must be settled there.
Refunds may not be offered for lost items returned after the charges have been sent to the Business Office. Prompt response to courtesy notices and bills from the Library will avoid fines, and any subsequent suspensions or lost book charges.
