Earn a Master of Arts in Teaching
at Hollins in two ways:
| 1 |
Hollins offers an M.A.T. program for licensed teachers with two or more years of experience who have a long-term commitment to teaching, want to develop curriculum in collaborative teams, and are interested in assuming leadership roles within their schools. Hollins will match the amount of grant given by each individual's school system.

| 2 |
Hollins also allows graduates with a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution to earn teaching licensure and an M.A.T. at the same time. This program is ideal for college graduates in many fields who believe teaching is their calling. This distinctive program is the Roanoke Valley's first to give students the chance to meet state requirements for licensure with the added bonus of completing an M.A.T.
If you’re in Track 2 of the M.A.T. program, Hollins will discount the cost of student teaching for those who graduate. Simply apply for all applicable grants (such as the VTAG), and Hollins will cover the remaining cost of tuition for student teaching. That’s a savings of more than $3,000 on the 12-credit course.
The M.A.T. program offers endorsements in the following areas:
PK-6
PK-12: Art, Music (Choral only), Foreign Language (French, Latin, Spanish)
6-12: English, History and Social Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics

Founded in 1997 and based in Washington, D.C., TEAC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving academic degree programs for professional educators, those who will teach and lead in schools, pre-K through grade 12.
