International Residencies
Each spring term, the students of the Hollins/ADF M.F.A. travel off site to dance centers throughout the world. In an effort to expand experiences beyond the campus setting, students will study, present their work in various settings, view concerts, and immerse themselves in specially designed "study tracks."
Specifically designed to promote exchange within a larger dance community and to better understand the internationalization of dance education, these residencies open pathways that will create lifelong relationships and opportunities.
European Dance Study (spring 2008)
Curator: Douglas Becker
This three-week intensive includes one week at the Konservatorium Wien followed by a two-week residency in Brussels.
While in Vienna, students will attend classes and lectures at the university and present their work at the performing arts and research center WUK. In Brussels, students will be in residence at Nadine, a performing arts and research center supported by the Belgian Flemish Commission on the Arts. The Brussels residence will be split into two parts; mornings are filled with studio practice with one of Brussels’ resident dance companies, Ultima Vez, directed by Wim Vandekeybus, and the afternoons are reserved for workshops, symposia, and lectures with members of the thriving Brussels dance community.
