For the second time in the past eight months, Hollins has accepted a challenge from the John M. Belk Educational Endowment to raise $500,000 in order to receive a matching grant of the same amount. Hollins will receive the funds provided the university is successful in raising an equal amount in gifts and pledges by June 30, 2010.

As one of the first liberal arts colleges in the United States to establish its own foreign study program, Hollins is proud of its longtime commitment to global awareness and to the intellectual and personal growth that comes through immersion in another culture. Currently more than half of our students, many times the national average, have an international learning experience as part of their academic program.
Hollins Abroad has sponsored its own independent programs in Paris and London for more than 50 and 35 years respectively. Today’s students may also elect to study in

Or through the School for Field Studies, which offers foreign study options in Kenya, Australia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Recently, foreign study options in other developing countries have been added, and the Hollins Jamaica Service Project has been organizing annual service trips to the village of Lucea for the past 20 years.
Support for our study abroad program, whether for semesters abroad or for special courses abroad during the January short term, is critically needed. Although our dream is for all Hollins students to study abroad before they graduate, many cannot afford the added cost of travel and related fees. In addition, as the cost of Hollins Abroad grows, this keystone program requires a core endowment.
We will be happy to help you plan your gift to Hollins. Please contact the external relations office for more information.
