Brian Attebery Brian Attevery

Brian Attebery is the author of Fantasy: How It Works and Decoding Gender in Science Fiction, among other genre studies. With Ursula K. Le Guin and Karen Joy Fowler, he edited the groundbreaking Norton Book of Science Fiction. His work has been honored with a Pilgrim Award, three Mythopoeic Awards, a World Fantasy Award, and the Distinguished Scholarship Award from the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts. An ongoing project has been editing new editions of Le Guin’s work for the Library of America. Attebery is also one of the editors for Perspectives on Fantasy, a scholarly series published by Bloomsbury. He is Professor Emeritus of English at Idaho State University.
