Hollins Can't Finish Marymount

Arlington, VA - Hollins University Volleyball at Marymount University, September 22, 2012

Box Score

After falling to Catholic University, Hollins took the court again in hopes of picking up a split in their tri-match.  Marymount University was the opponent for a tired Hollins team in need of a win.  The Saints look to take down a hungry Hollins squad that hasn't tasted victory in over two weeks.

The first set saw a back and forth affair that ended with the home team taking a slim 25-23 win.  Hollins looked to even the match in the second frame but again came up a bit short 25-18.  The third set saw a tired Hollins squad again giving a spirited effort but falling late, 25-19.

Haley Ortiz (Chesapeake, VA) led Hollins with 10 kills and 12 digs.  Senior Ally Reed (Sterling, VA) had another solid effort with eight kills, 10 digs, and three service aces.  Lela Moore (Woodleaf, NC) led with 23 assists while Lauren Hays (Saginaw, TX) added four blocks.

Jenn Forbes and Johanna Hummel each recorded 11 kills.  Melissa Warren handed out 21 assists and Erin Allison had 16 of Marymount's 50 digs.

Hollins will play host to ODAC rival Bridgewater College on Wednesday night.  The match with the Eagles is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm.
