Road Woes Continue

The struggles continue for a young Hollins team as they came up empty on the road against Averett on Tuesday night.  A roster featuring 60% first year players finished a grueling six match road trip with a 25-10, 25-19, 25-21 loss to the Cougars.  Hollins had early leads in both of the first two sets before the home team rebounded to take control of the match.

Hollins was led by first year middle Mandi McDade (Eustis, FL/Eustis) and her six kills.  McDade also served five aces and recorded five digs.  Ally Reed (Sterling, VA/Dominion) continued her solid play by recording three kills and 18 digs.  Morgan Russell (Peoria, AZ/Liberty) added 13 digs while Jessie Deese (Cary, NC/Apex) led the team with nine assists.

The Cougars were led by Allison Sparks and her nine kills.  Paige Aaron recorded 15 digs while setter Jesse Jones handed out 23 assists.

Hollins will be back in action on Friday night when they host Mary Baldwin in Roanoke.  The match is scheduled to start at 6:30pm and the video can be seen live on the web brought to you by First Team Broadcasting.
