Ashland, VA - Hollins University Tennis at ODAC Fall Championships hosted by Randolph-Macon College October 9, 2011

The Hollins tennis team wrapped up a successful fall season at the ODAC Fall Championships in Ashland this past weekend.  The tournament consisted of seven singles and three doubles draws.  Hollins made it to six of the 10 Finals, winning Flight 7 Singles.

Trudy Siziba (Harara, Zimbabwe) won Flight 7 Singles by defeating her opponent from Sweet Briar by the score of 7-5 and 6-2.  In singles competition Hollins was represented in the Finals by Victoria Coffee (Plano, TX), Flight 3, Shawnte Woodson (Waynesboro, VA), Flight 4, and Sarah Grace McCormick (Harrisonburg, VA), Flight 6.  In doubles play, Woodson teamed with Tina Kakadelis (Towson, MD) to reach the finals of Flight 3 while Siziba and Caitlin Hoerr (Va. Beach, VA) fell in a close Flight 4 final.

Flight 2 Semis: Burke (SBC def. P. Montoya 6-2, 6-2

Flight 3 Final: Buell (W&L) def. V. Coffee 6-1, 6-0

Flight 4 Final: Hupalo (W&L) def. S. Woodson 6-0, 6-0

Flight 5 Semis: Francis (W&L) def. T. Kakadelis 6-1, 6-1

Flight 6 Final: Vella (W&L) def. S.G. McCormick 6-0, 6-1

Flight 7 Final: T. Siziba def. Manning (SBC) 7-5, 6-2

Doubles:

Flight 1 Semis: Taylor/Burke (SBC) def. Montoya/Montoya

Flight 2 Semis: Buell/Hupalo (W&L) def. Coffee/McCormick

Flight 3 Final: Vella/Francis (W&L) def. Woodson/Kakadelis 8-2

Flight 4 FInal: Manning/Byrd (SBC) def. Hoerr/Siziba 8-6
