Hollins Nets Six on All ODAC Teams

Forest, VA - Hollins University Tennis 2011 ODAC Women's Tennis Post Season Awards, April 29, 2011

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their 2011 Women's Tennis Post Season Awards.  All six members of the Hollins starting lineup were honored by the league.

The sister/sister team of Karen Montoya (Delicias, Mexico) and Priscila Montoya (Delicias, Mexico) earned 1st Team All ODAC honors at #1 Doubles.  The duo went 14-4 for the season while finishing with a record of 9-3 against ODAC competition, including a runner up finish in the 2011 ODAC women's Tennis Championships.  Priscila also was named All ODAC 2nd team at #3 Singles for her 14-2 (8-1 ODAC) record during her first collegiate season.

The senior tandem of Anne Ailstock (Church Road, VA) and Sarah Budrus (Huntington, WV) claimed All ODAC 2nd Team honors at #2 Doubles.  The long time duo won 12 of their 16 matches overall and against ODAC teams the pair ended with an 11-2 mark.  Budrus also claimed her second straight ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.  Sarah maintains a 3.88 grade point average as a Mathematics major with a Spanish minor.  During her career at Hollins, Budrus has been named an ITA Scholar Athlete, three time member of the All ODAC Academic Team, and is a member of three honor societies: Sigma Delta Pi, Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Beta Kappa.

Shawnte Woodson (Waynesboro, VA) and Mariah Bryant (Pleasanton, CA) each earned multiple All ODAC Awards.  The duo combine to win a team high 15 matches during the season.  Their 11-2 record against ODAC foes landed them on the All ODAC 2nd Team at #3 Doubles.  Individually both players earned spots on the All ODAC 2nd Team as well.  Woodson, #4 Singles, compiled a 10-6 overall record while finishing 9-2 in the league.  Bryant, #6 Singles, lost only three times during a season that saw her win 13 matches.  In the conference, Mariah finished with a near perfect mark of 8-1.

By virtue of their runner up finish in the 2011 ODAC Women's Tennis Championships, all six Hollins players were also named to the ODAC All Tournament Team.  The team finished the season with an overall record of 16-4 and lost only twice in ODAC play, both times to the nationally ranked (8th) Generals of Washington & Lee.
