Four Receive ODAC Honors

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their 2010 Women's Tennis Post Season Awards. Four Hollins tennis team members were honored by the league. Sarah Budrus, top left, was named First Team All ODAC at #2 Singles as well as Second Team All ODAC at #1 Doubles. During the regular season, Budrus compiled a 10-3 overall record at #2 Singles including an 8-1 ODAC mark while going 10-5 at #1 Doubles, 7-3 in the ODAC. Sarah was also named the 2010 ODAC Scholar Athlete of the Year in women's tennis. The junior from Huntington, WV maintains a 3-84 grade point average while majoring in mathematics. Karen Montoya, bottom left, was named First Team All ODAC at #1 Singles. The first year player amassed a regular season record of 13-1 while going 9-1 in ODAC play. On a trip to Florida in March, Montoya beat Huntingdon's Katie Scott who was ranked 25th in the Atlantic South Region. Karen was also voted as the 2010 ODAC Rookie of the Year based on her spectacular first season. Anne Ailstock earned Second Team All ODAC honors in both Singles and Doubles. Ailstock, competing at the #4 spot in Singles, had a regular season record of 9-2 but lost just one time in nine ODAC matches. Anne was partnered with fellow classmate Budrus to compete at #1 Doubles where the pair went 7-3 in regular season ODAC play. Finley Vinson completed her first season at Hollins by being named to the All ODAC Second Team. Playing at #6 Singles, Vinson completed the regular season with a 12-2 mark. Finley shined in ODAC play losing just once in 10 tries. |
