Hollins Falls in Regular Season Finale

Baltimore, MD - Hollins University Swimming at Notre Dame (Maryland), January 26, 2013

Hollins took to the pool for the final time before the ODAC Championships with a trip to Notre Dame (Maryland) on Saturday afternoon.  The meet with the Gators was supposed to be the second meet of the weekend but the snowy weather cancelled Hollins date with Frostburg one night earlier.  Hollins won six of the 15 events but fell to the home team 66-50.

Maggie Dwyer (Norwich, VT) won one individual race and swam as a team member on two Hollins relay victories.  Dwyer, All ODAC a season ago, got warmed up for the conference championships by winning the 500 Freestyle while teaming with Claire Webber (Blauvelt, NY), Sage Otto (Hampton, VA), and Meg O'Brien (Chattanooga, TN) to win the 160 Freestyle Relay and the 800 Freestyle Relay.  Webber also picked up an individual win in the 100 Breaststroke while finishing second in the 200 Breaststroke.  O'Brien added a win in the 400 Individual Medley and second place points in the 200 Freestyle.  Caitlyn Asip (Wellington, FL) recorded Hollins other individual win by coming home first in the 100 Butterfly.

Despite coming up short in the meet Hollins broke eight varsity records and finished the season with a 7-6 record, their second straight winning season.  Hollins will look to see how they stack up with the rest of the ODAC as they prepare to compete in the ODAC Swimming Championships that will be held February 7-10.
