The Hollins University swim team opened their 2011-12 season with a trip to South Carolina.  Hollins competed at the Converse College Invite over the weekend.  Hollins finished behind two scholarship schools in third place with 121 points.

Maggie Dwyer (Norwich, VT) swam to the best finish of the meet for H0llins when she finished second in the 1650 yard freestyle.  Her time of 18:52 was her personal best and shattered the Hollins varsity record by over 21 seconds.  Dwyer also picked up a fourth in the 500 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.  First-year swimmer Aubrey James (Fremont, CA) finished sixth in the 50 yard freestyle and fifth in the 100 backstroke.  Meg O'Brien (Chattanooga, TN) picked up third place points in the 200 yard butterfly, while Devyn Whitlock (Stafford, VA) recorded a fourth place finish in the 400 yard Individual Medley.

Hollins will be back in the pool this coming weekend when they compete in the ODAC Relays.  The event will take place on Saturday on the campus of Washington & Lee University.
