Coach Jonathan Raines
Coach Raines made his debut as the new Hollins University head swim coach in the 2008-09 season. Jonathan came to Hollins with 20 seasons of coaching experience, between club and high school teams. Jonathan coached for Southfield Lathrup High School in Michigan, where he was the men’s and women’s head swimming and diving coach. He built both teams from humble beginnings into competitive teams, and his women’s team won the 2005 Conference Championship. Prior to his seven years at Southfield, Jonathan was the assistant men’s swimming and diving coach for Owosso High School in Michigan, where he had responsibility for the swimming portion of the team. He also has coached for the YMCA club swimming program.
During his distinguished coaching career, Jonathan’s teams have had 62 All-Conference Selections, 19 Conference Champions, over 20 pool records broken, many team records, state finalists and champions, and national qualifiers.
Jonathan was an accomplished swimmer himself at Corunna High School, and comes to Hollins with extensive experience in the sport. Jonathan received his B.B.A. from Baker College and his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
