Hollins looked good in their ODAC opener as the beat visiting Sweet Briar College 3-0 on Thursday afternoon.  Hollins controlled the action and dictated play en route to out shooting the Vixens 23-4.

The match was scoreless until late in the first half when Colleen Thamm (Manassas, VA/Battlefield), pictured left, took a long pass down the right sideline from Kelsi Orsak (Danbury, TX/Brazoswood) and beat the Sweet Briar keeper.  Thamm struck again just five minutes later when Kara Phillips (Roanoke, VA/Lord Botetourt) found her for her second goal of the match and Hollins took a 2-0 lead into the break.  The second half was more of the same with the Hollins defense holding the visitors to just one shot.  Thamm completed the hat trick when she scored off an assist from Ashley Cassidy (Vinton, VA/Staunton River) at the 87 minute mark.  Keeper Kristen Norkus (Gainesville,VA/Battlefield) recorded her second straight shut out by making three saves.

Hollins will step out of conference when they travel to face Ferrum College on Saturday night at 7:00pm.
