Third Straight on the Road Too Much

Lexington, VA - Hollins University Soccer at Washington and Lee University, September 12, 2012

Box Score

The Hollins University soccer team played their third road game in the past six days when they traveled to Lexington on Wednesday afternoon.  ODAC power Washington and Lee laid in wait for the road weary Hollins squad.

The Generals wasted no time in greeting their visitors with a rude welcoming.  W&L scored less than three minutes into the match.  It didn't get any easier for Hollins as the Generals added another goal and led 2-0 just five minutes in.  Five more W&L goals gave the home team a comfortable 7-0 lead at the break.  The second half was not much better for Hollins as they could never find an offensive rhythm.  The Generals cruised to a 10-0 victory.

Hollins was outshot 46-4 for the match.  Lisa McGrady (Hendersonville, NC) recorded half of the Hollins shots.  Washington & Lee was able to fire 24 shots on the Hollins net.  Keeper Brandi Chesne (Hammond, LA) did her best to keep Hollins in the match by saving 14 General shots.

Haley Ward got the home squad on the board by scoring two goals int he first five minutes.  Katherine Rush and Holley Beasley added two goals apiece.  Jasmine Soo, Alexis Blight, Hannah Sackfield, and Meaghan also scored for W&L.  Beasley, Sackfield, Ward, and Rush also each added an assist.  Kingsley Schroeder stopped all the Hollins shots she faced en route to the win in net.

Hollins will not have long to regroup as they host William Peace University tomorrow afternoon.  The match with the Pacers is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm and can be seen live on the web at First Team Broadcasting.
