Ferrum , VA - Hollins University Soccer at Ferrum College, September 12, 2009

The Hollins University soccer team traveled out of conference to face Ferrum College on Saturday night.  Both teams fought hard but the defenses proved too tough and despite going two extra periods the match ended in a tie.

The Hollins defense held a third straight opponent scoreless and this time did it for an extra 20 minutes.  Hollins keeper Kristen Norkus (Gainesville, VA/Battlefield), pictured left, extended her scoreless streak to 290 minutes after turning back all six shots that found goal.  Norkus and her defensive mates were able to limit the Panthers to just seven total shots. 

The Ferrum defense was just as stout.  Hollins was only able to get off eight shots of which only two were on goal.  Katie Hodkinson was able to make two saves and keep Hollins off the scoreboard.

Hollins will travel to face cross-town rival Roanoke College on Wednesday night at 7:00pm.
