Dupuy's Hat Trick Sinks Hollins

Roanoke, VA - Hollins University Soccer vs Lynchburg College October 1, 2011

Box Score

ODAC and national power Lynchburg College came to Roanoke for a Saturday afternoon soccer game.  Hollins came into the game still looking for their first ODAC win of the season after coming up just short at Emory & Henry on Wednesday night.  However, the Hornets struck early and often building a five goal lead just 15 minutes into the contest.  Hollins wouldn't go quietly and after a long pass over the defense, Kelli Kitchens (Roanoke, VA/William Byrd) took on the Lynchburg keeper and beat her to the home team on the board.  After the Hollins goal, the game was played even until a late first half Hornet goal made the score 6-1.  Hollins played a solid second half but couldn't add to their total and fell to Lynchburg 8-1.

Kitchens was able to score, on the ODAC leading Hornets (5-0), when she took a long pass over the defense from midfielder Alicia Johns (Locust Grove, VA/Orange Co.)  It marked the first goal against Lynchburg since the 2005 season.  Kristen Norkus (Gainesville, VA/Battlefield) stopper nine of 11 second half shots en route to recording 13 saves.

Dessi Dupuy scored three times to lead the Lynchburg attack.  Angela Bosco added two goals and an assist while Jessica Gonzalez, Katelyn Ludwig, and Jenn Snyder each scored for the visitors.

The schedule doesn't get any easier for Hollins as they play host to Washington & Lee on Tuesday afternoon.  The ODAC game will start at 4:00pm.
