Lynchburg, VA - Hollins University Soccer at Randolph College, October 20, 2012

Box Score

For the second time in a week the Hollins soccer team traveled to Lynchburg for an ODAC match.  After traveling to Lynchburg College earlier this week, Hollins returned to face Randolph College.  Hollins went into the match with the WildCats looking for their third ODAC win of the season.

Hollins fell behind early as the home team scored less than nine minutes into the contest.  Hollins had an answer and tied the match at one apiece at the 23 minute mark.  Randolph regained the advantage and took a 2-1 lead into the break despite Hollins enjoying a 12-7 edge in shots.  Neither team could gain much of an advantage for the first part of the second half until Hollins broke through the WildCat defense and tied the match at 2-2.  With less than 10 minutes left in regulation a Randolph attacker beat the Hollins keeper to a ball and put it in the back of the net for the lead.  Another WildCat goal put the match out of reach as Hollins fell 4-2 on the road.

Two breakaway goals by leading scorer Becca Logan (Culloden, WV) accounted for the Hollins offense.  Logan scored her 11th and 12th goals of the season and currently ranks in the top five in the league in goals and shots per game.  Brandi Chesne (Hammond, LA) recorded six saves, increasing her league leading total to 140 for the season.

Brittany Hammons and Brianne Roth each scored a pair of goals for Randolph College.  Samantha Wittie and Erin Carter each picked up an assist and keeper Hunter Gibson made 10 saves while picking up the win.

Hollins will finish their 2012 campaign on Tuesday afternoon.  New ODAC member Shenandoah will travel to Roanoke for a 4:00pm contest.
