Three Hollins riders Qualify for IHSA Nationals; team captures reserve title at ODAC Championships

Emma Lane Poole '13, Sarah Brown '13, and Catherine Hensly '14 are headed to the IHSA Nationals in Raleigh after strong individual showings at the Zone 4 Region 2 Horse Show, held at Goucher College on Saturday, April 7.

Poole took first place in Open Equitation over Fences, while Hensly finished first in Walk Trot Canter Equitation and Brown captured second in Intermediate Equitation over Fences.

The three riders will compete against collegiate riders from around the country at the Hunt Horse Complex, May 3-6.

On Friday, April 6, the Hollins riding team competed at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship, hosted by Lynchburg College. With one first-place finish (Equitation over Fences-Course B) and two third-place finishes (Equitation over Fences-Course A and Equitation on the Flat), Hollins was named Reserve Champion, finishing second to Sweet Briar College.

Sarah Brown '13, Sarah Jarosinski '12, Meredith McDonnell '12, and Emma Lane Poole '13 represented Hollins at the event; Poole was named Rider of the Year and she and Brown were both named to the All-ODAC Team.
