Hollins University

Hollins fields one of the nation's strongest riding programs, which has produced champion after champion and is a national powerhouse. And yet riding is never seen as separate from or more important than the college experience as a whole. Says director Nancy Peterson: "The number-one goal at Hollins is to give students a quality liberal arts education."

The Hollins Riding Center is located within walking distance of campus. The 220’ x 110’ Kirby Riding Ring, where numerous horse shows are held during the school year, includes a heated and air-conditioned viewing lounge and a sound system. More »	The coaching team, led by longtime director Nancy Peterson, is supported by a wonderful crew of barn staff and a host of student assistants, who spend hours at the barn pouring love and care into the horses and facility. Competition	Hollins Horses
Riding has been part of the fabric of Hollins since the 1930s, but it began its rise to national prominence in the late 1950s. Hollins has twice fielded IHSA National Champion teams. Our students have won 18 national individual championships, and four have won the coveted Cacchione Cup. More »	Hollins has an extraordinary cast of 30 school horses, all of which were donated by former students, alumnae from around the country, and professionals who know of the school’s excellent care.
