Roanoke, VA - Hollins University Lacrosse vs Shenandoah University, March 30, 2013

Box Score

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the Hollins lacrosse team found themselves playing on home turf for just the third time this season.  Shenandoah University came to Roanoke with a perfect ODAC record while Hollins was in search of their first conference win.

The Hornets struck first taking the lead just minutes into the game.  Hollins, however, answered quickly to tie the score.  Over the next several minutes of play, Shenandoah kept Hollins on their heels while building the lead to double digits.  At the break, the home team found themselves on the short end of a 13-1 score.  After six goals during the first 20 minutes of the second half, the Hornets had built a big lead.  Hollins wouldn't quit and netted another goal late in the contest before falling 22-2.

Chanci Wright (Eden, TX) led Hollins on both ends of the field.  Wright scored two goals on two shots and recorded a pair of draw controls.  On the defensive end, Chanci picked up three ground balls while causing four Shenandoah turnovers.  Megan Sauciuc (Monroe, NC) and Rikki Martinez (Corpus Christi, TX) also corralled three ground balls and Corinne Nicholson (Takoma Park, MD) again went the distance in goal, recording seven saves.

Samantha Sisson led the Hornets with five goals and three assists.  Corrinne Kosmowski, Liz Bereit, and Amy Rollins each added two goals while Samantha Donaghy led the way with five helpers.  Ashley Cross stopped two Hollins shots en route to picking up the win in net.

Hollins will be back at home on Wednesday when Randolph College comes to town for a matchup of winless ODAC teams.  the game with the WildCats is scheduled to begin at 4:00pm.
