Generals Too Much For Hollins

Lexington, VA - Hollins University Lacrosse at Washington and Lee University, March 5, 2013

Box Score

After starting the season 1-1 against non-conference competition, the Hollins lacrosse teamed stepped into ODAC action on Tuesday afternoon.  Hollins faced off against the ODAC's best, preseason #1, when they took the field against Washington and Lee in Lexington, VA.

The Generals wasted no time in welcoming Hollins into ODAC play by scoring the first six goals of the game.  Hollins stopped the Washington and Lee momentum by finding the back of the General's net but it was a short lived offensive outburst for the visitors.  W&L closed out the first half with 10 unanswered goals to take a comfortable lead into the break.  Hollins never got much going on the offensive end, just five shots for the game, as the home team cruised to a 21-1 ODAC win.

Brandi Chesne (Hammond, LA) scored the lone Hollins goal on one of her team high four shots.  Jessie Deese (Cary, NC) recorded one shot while picking up a team high two ground balls.  Deese added one of Hollins two caused turnovers.  Keeper Corrine Nicholson (Takoma Park, MD) recorded four saves, her first game stopping less than 10 shots, while going the distance in net.

Carly Taglienti led the Generals with five goals and an assist.  Emily Conway added four goals while Kirby Taylor scored three times.  Katie Hagen handed out a game high six assists.  Cara Mulligan and Sally Curtiss split time in goal with Mulligan recording the win.

The road for Hollins doesn't get any easier as the travel to ODAC preseason #3, Lynchburg College on Thursday night.  The game with the Hornets is scheduled to start at 7:00pm.
